A British citizen of Bangladeshi extraction, Rhuhal Ahmed, had been intercepted in Afghanistan and spent two years incarcerated in Guantanamo. I’d be interested to find out if the American military have paid public performance royalties to the owners of the relevant performing rights. If so, then I would like to ascertain if the artists concerned have been made aware that their compositions are being used as instruments of torture. And if the royalties have not been paid, then I’d like to know if the powerful music industry moguls are likely to take the US government to court on the grounds of theft of intellectual property; just as they do in cases of illegal Internet file-sharing.
