Screening of Yael Bartana’s „Nightmares” (Mary-Koszmary) followed by a discussion with prof. Zygmunt Bauman and Sławomir Sierakowski on the place of the Left in contemporary world. Discussion will be led by prof. Agata Bielik-Robson.
prof. Zygmunt Bauman; a Polish sociologist who, since 1971, has resided in England. Professor of sociology at the University of Leeds, he is known best for his analyses of the interplay between modernity and the Holocaust, and of postmodernity. Wrote, among others, Modernity and The Holocaust [1989], Postmodernity and its discontents [1997], Liquid Modernity [2000]. Sławomir Sierakowski; a Polish left-wing activist, political commentator, sociologist, literary critic. Founder and editor in chief of Political Critique (Krytyka Polityczna); magazine, publishing house and vibrant platform for discussion, art presentations and for number of social and political projects. prof. Agata Bielik-Robson; philosopher at Polish Academy of Sciences. Her work focuses on philosophy of subjectivity, post-secularism, Judaistic thought and the influence of psychoanalysis and Romanticism on philosophy. Yael Bartana; an Israeli multimedia artist.
